The Handmaid’s Tale was an exploration of scratchboard. Inspired by Margaret Atwood’s novel and newly released television show.
The composition was drawn from the famous stoning scene. I felt the scratchboard’s black and white surface enhanced the drama of the winter scene while helping to accentuate the dire circumstances for both the male and female characters.
